That advice part I can give, though at first you may not appreciate
what I am going to tell you. You are not leaning a dang thing at those
web hosting sites that practically build your page for you.

My advice is to learn HTML yourself and write your own code. Your web
pages can be written on a plain text editor, using your browser to
preview your work in progress. You don't need fancy editors.

Please do me a favor and visit the following site. After reading
through the examples and lessons, if it all seems too hard for you,
then we'll find you some WYSIWYG HTML editors so that you can design
sites offlist or independent of any hosting service's interface.

If you will just take about 30 minutes a day for just three or four
days and learn a little something about HTML, you'll be so smart you
won't be able to stand yourself. <g> Remember, there is always greater
pride in something you build with your own two hands than that which a
machine builds for you.
