I need some basic spoon-fed website (or human)help. No big words, no fancy terms other
than the ones found in the average college dictionary :o)
I B Educated, just can't fathom this digital stuff. Used to be gimme anaolg or give
me death. Now, I'm trying to incorporate some Dig into my life cause I'm missing
telephone calls and being smacked off-line in the middle of a 7 million byte 27 minute
download!
Ok. here's what I need/want:
I want to rid my puter of my slow 56K dial up modem. I want to be able to stay
connected forever if I decide to! I want to NOT be forced to use some Cable Co's ISP
JUST to have that DSL (or is that an ISDN? Or is it called Cable.)I want to be able to
use my own IP (Altavista--love um!) AND...I want world peace and a cure for ameobic
dysentery. The latter two I'll have to work on in my own free time, but the first set
should NOT be as hard as the situations I have encountered in my local area. Are they
fibbing to me when they say that there are no undedicated DSL lines available to us in
our houses, and we HAVE to use their ISP?
