[SaF] Copyright issues

I'm wondering what sort of things do you need to look up before you can
Copyright them.
Like a band name?  You would have to first find out if anybody else has
it right?  How/where would you do this?

And what about songs, can you just say they are copyrighted if you wrote
them, and then that's it, they are copyright?
