So, Netscape 6 allows you to manage AOL mail, but only if you have the AIM component installed. It uses IMAP for mail transport, but the user authentication module from AIM, so no access from OE or TheBat! or Pegasus or Poco or. . . Netscape NetMail changed all user accounts that overlapped with AOL customer addresses eariler this year. Now, they are rolling out a new version of NetMail that integrates with AIM -- you can see the mail sender's AIM on-line status from the mail screen, like you can when on-line with AOL (who have also added number of mail messages to the switch screen name screen.) Wanna bet that NetMail will also be accessible from Netscape 6, an answer to Hotmail integration in the IE/OE suite? Now, the question is if you can roll your AOL addresses over to Netmail and cancel your AOL account..... naaah, probably not.
