I presently use three e-mail reminder services.
Let me note that for an e-mail reminder service to have value to me, it
first must be flexible to where I can pretty much type out a message to
myself in advance and then schedule it to come to me on or around a
specific date and time. In other words, I want to send myself a letter
in the future - a letter with my own words.
Dennis mentioned MSN's Calendar service, which has as a part of it an
email reminder service. I use it and like it. The drawback, though,
for the MSN service is that your message is sent in the Subject line.
So you really can only be brief. If you have several messages coming
to you on the same day, then the messages are all listed in the Body of
the email, but still the length of the message is limited. So this is
a good site for short messages to yourself. You will need to register,
but if you already have a Hotmail account, you are in effect pre-
registered for the Calendar service.

Another good reminder service is the Candor Free Email Reminder Service.

For the first time, just fill in your email address and assign yourself
a password and set your first reminder. For the first reminder, there
will be a confirmation process, but after following instructions you
will be registered.
The good thing about the Candor service is that it is highly flexible.
You can pretty much type out anything for the Body of the reminder
message, up to 250 characters. There is even a message length tool to
check your message size. An even better thing is that you can edit
your message on their server prior to the sending date.
The downside to this service, and this is really just a minor
complaint, is that all messages are sent out on the date you set, but
at 00h30 GMT. Since we are not used to figuring time on that basis,
sometimes you have to stop and think and gauge your time. But like I
say, that is a minor issue.

*Time Cave"

There is a new kid on the block called Time Cave, that I am enjoying
testing. It works pretty well. You can send yourself email messages
in the future and the service is designed like a webmail service. Your
on screen message looks and works just like a webmail composition
window. You are not limited to the number of characters in the
message. At least not that I can see.
The drawback is that you cannot later edit your message prior to
sending, but you can review the message, later, before it is sent out
to you. I have been in contact with the owner of the site and he does
plan to implement an editing feature in the future.
Of course, like the other services, you will have to register an
account. It was painless, as I remember. :-)
So check out those three sites and register for accounts. Test them
all out and see which one you like best.
