Dozens of reasons why things go awry in Win 98. I have lost sound after
installing or uninstalling something else, such as a media player. What
seems to bring it back is to reboot two or three times. Eventually Win 98
wakes up and reconnects your sound. This is the Halloween season of the
year: perhaps some goofer dust or magic charm would also help ;-). Best
luck, and tell us what worked when it comes back. thepccat
