[SaF] Old computer assistance

I have an old laptop, Toshiba T4400SX

I am keenly interested in useing it for my 
children to access AIM instant messenger 
and read there e-mail.

I believe that the highest operating system 
that I can install is WIN 3.1.

Please advise my possibilities to use 
this laptop.
