HI Pierre:
As a prerequisite, I manage 17,778 bookmarks (as of right now) with
Netscape's program and still consider it the best way to manage
bookmarks (if you use Netscape)... MHO

However, it seems like the most popular software program is
PowerMarks (but please read on):

I don't personally like PowerMarks because it doesn't provide the
organization I want. As I mentioned above, I am perfectly happy with
Netscape's bookmark management system. I can create folders,
subfolder and sort them at will. The bookmarks are searchable using
the find feature (CTRL-F) and find again (CTRL-G). I include
keywords in the bookmark properties so that I can find things easily.

I expect that one of these days I will be forced to switch to
Internet Explorer at which time I will absolutely need a bookmark
manager. The reason is that each IE favorite is actually a file in
Internet Explorer - extreme disorganization IMHO. Netscape's single
bookmark file (that is searchable) is the real key to managing
bookmarks (IMO).

If I am forced to switch to MSIE... The only program I found that
seemed like it would work for me is URL Manager. URL Manager will
import Netscape bookmarks (and categories) and MSIE favorites,
export html files, generate custom reports, capture URLs from the
clipboard and also grab URLs from either browser - all for $15. As
I mentioned, Powermarks is a favorite of many folks, but it doesn't
support Netscape categories and I don't think the report features
are as good.

Here is the homepage for URL Manager 2000 in case you are

I have put together a list of several software and internet based
bookmark managers that you might also take a look at here:
