You can use POP3 checking software to look at the Subject line and the
sender and the size of the message while it still is on the server.
Some programs might also allow you to view the first few lines of the
message. You can then delete unwanted messages on the server before
downloading the rest.

This is all based on standard POP3 protocols. If you would like to
