OK let me preface this list by saying that a GREAT source for movies is The
Internet Movie Database -- imdb.com -- If you know an actor or the name of
a movie you can get all the info.
You can get plot summaries, awards etc. You can also put in an actor and
obtain a list of everything that they've been accredited for (including
directorial/producing credits)

Alright, you've opened up my floodgate now!!
It depends on the types of movies that you are interested in as to what I
can recommend...
If you have any Qs about the plots, or storylines...just email me privately!
(or check imdb.com)

Here are some of my all time faves: (which are not neccessairly recent but
good!)

American Beauty: I LOVE Kevin Spacey and Annette Benning and this is just a
great flick. About a middle aged man and his quest to "be happy" again.
He's estranged from his wife and his daughter. It's got some funny lines
but is definitely not a comedy.

Chasing Amy: Kevin Smith film. Ben Affleck and Joey Lauren Adams. It's
*definitely* and "indie film" so beware. ((again, not sure of your tast))
Comedy. Re: Ben and Joey's "abnormal" relationship...

Godfather: FIRST ONE. AL PACINO, Marlon Brando, Robert Duvall, James Caan,
Talia Shire. Yeah that's pretty much 'nuff said also.

Scream: Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox-Arquette, David Arquette, Skeet Ulrich,
Matthew Lillard. The FIRST in the latest series of horror flicks...I love
it!

Neverending Story: ((classic but a fave...mom calls it my "Peter Pan
Syndrome"))

The Usual Suspects: Kevin Spacey, Benicio Del Toro, Kevin Pollack and
Gabriel Byrne. Five villains in New York are rounded up by police in an
unconventional manner that worries them. After release, they get together
for a spot of revenge, but someone else is controling events "Who is Keyser
Soze"??? heehee.

SWIMMING WITH SHARKS: No one has ever seen this but it's a great film.
Again, Kevin Spacey and Benecio Del Toro. I love it! A young, naive
Hollywood studio assistant finally turns the tables on his incredibly
abusive producer boss...something that we have ALL wished at one time or
another.

L.A Confidential: Spacey AGAIN!! And Rusell Crowe, Guy Pierce..oh and Danny
Devito. It's an all-star cast *grin* Set back in the mobster, corruption of
the police days. Based on a book by James Ellroy. (great book as well)

Swingers: Vince Vaughn baby! Wannabe actors become regulars in the stylish
neo-lounge scene; Trent teaches his friend Mike the unwritten rules of the
scene. Written by Jon Favreau (the actor)

Boys and Girls: Freddie Prinze Jr and Claire Forlani. It's EXACTLY what it
sounds like!!

The Wedding Singer: Drew Barrymore, Adam Sandler...a *true* 80s flashback.
(ok so I was 10 in 1988 but I still remember the decade!!!)

Grosse Pointe Blank: John and Joan Cusack. Minnie Driver and Dan Akroyd.
A hitman goes to his 10 year reunion and reunites w/ his old flame. It's
HILARIOUS. SOme of the best "one liners"

Say Anything: Old school 80's John Cusack. W/ Ione Skye. Reason enough to
watch? The line "A pen! I gave her my heart and she gave me a pen!!"

Goonies: Nuff Said

Breakfast Club: BRAT PACK. Nuff Said.

OK-these aren't faves but I did/do like them:

The Cell: Jennifer Lopez and Vince Vaughn. The best description I can think
of (and may have heard somewhere) is "The Matrix meets Silence of the
Lambs"--it's a psuchological thriller.

The Virgin Suicides: Directed by Sofia Coppola-Imdb says "Neighborhood boys
discover their sexuality and delve into the mysteries of womanhood through
their friendships with five sisters"

Coyote Ugly: A bunch of virtual no-names. Gives some hope to young true
love though :)

Bring it On: Kirsten Dunst. It's a teeny-bopper flick but it's cute.

She's All That: Freddie Prinze Jr. and Rachel Leigh Cook. Another
teeny-bopper flick--better than Bring it On though.

Gladiator: Russell Crowe in a skirt. LOL

Devil's Advocate: I hated it at first but I learned to love it. Al Pacino
and Keanu Reeves.
