Hello Seekers and Finders. :-)

I thought I would take the opportunity to explain to you what the
"<ADM FWD>" tag was that you see in some of the subject lines.

Our SeeknFind mailing list is an unmoderated list. Most of our posts
get immediately distributed and posters would realize that immediate
distribution. In some circumstances a post may be bounced to me for
review. Some of the causes of these bounces are set in the Majordomo
software and others are by my own configuration of our list. In those
circumstances where your post would bounce to me, it is usually going
to mean an extra delay in distributing the post until I can forward it
back to the list. When I do forward those bounced posts back to the
list, I often manually edit the Subject line with the "<ADM FWD>" tag.

Let me go over a few reasons your post might bounce to me:

(1) Our Majordomo has Administrivia filters to catch unsubscription and
other server commands from being mistakenly posted to our list. These
type of posts tend to waste everyone's time, so it is a good thing that
we have something to trap those administrivia posts before the rest of
the list is burdened with them. While this is a valued feature, it
also has it's downside -- sometimes posts get bounced as administrivia
when in fact, they are not. Anytime we post about subscribing or
unsubscribing to lists or getting "help", the post may be subject to
getting bounced to me for review.

(2) A Majordomo requires you to post to the list with *exactly* the
address to which you are subscribed to the list. If there are any
differences at all in the address you are using to post to the list and
the address you are subscribed, then your post will bounce to me for
review.

Example: If you are subscribed as [EMAIL PROTECTED] ... you
cannot post with the address: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ... even though your
own mail server sees those two addresses as the same. The Majordomo
will not.

I can configure our mailing list to "munge" domains, where some of the
types of addresses I exampled above, will get through. However,
experience tells me not to do that, so I won't.

If you want to set up more than one address with which you can post to
the list, but only get distribution for one account, you can subscribe
with additional accounts and then set those extra accounts to NOMAIL.
A possible use for doing this -- suppose you have your main
subscription to the list with your ISP e-mail account and a secondary
subscription set to nomail using a Hotmail account. If your mail
server goes down for an evening or longer, but you have web access, you
could post to the list from your Hotmail account and later look for the
answer in The Mail Archive:

(3) I have a few things configured into our list which I am on guard
for, which will cause your post to bounce to me for review. These
things are few and far between, though. Most of the bounces I speak of
would be related to either Administrivia or Non-member posting.

This message is only to inform you. You need not feel guilty or at
fault if any post of yours is inadvertently bounced to me. I have a
pretty good system for getting your post forwarded back to the list
where it will be distributed, so it is not a great burden on my part.

Right now, our membership is small. Only about 1/2 the subscribers
came over from the ONElist group. Interestingly, though, our daily
average output is about the same, for which I am extrememly pleased! :-)

I am currently promoting our Seeknfind list and we add subscribers
almost every day. You can help by just inviting one new subscriber.
If we all do that, we will double in size in no time at all. :-)

Thank you. :-)
