Hello Seekers and Finders :-)

Beginning on Sunday of this week, our SeeknFind list began to add
several new subscribers. We probably added around 50 new subscribers
since that day. I wanted to express a personal welcome to all
newcomers to our list. I am not sure if most of you are just
stragglers from the old location of the list, or else you heard about
our list from another source, but no matter. We are glad to have you
all. :-)

Our list volume is mostly generated by questions and answers. There
are times that the questions and answers can make for a fairly busy
list and then there are slow times where few questions need be answered
by our subscribers. We all pretty much accept the "ebb and tide"
nature of SeeknFind.

As it happens, for those whom came into our list this week, this has
not been a busy period for the list. So I thought I would take the
opportunity once again for our newcomers as well as our veteran
subscribers, to tell you about our two-fold archive system, in case you
may wish to read back posts.

You can access the archives of our mailing list in one of two ways:

(1) For those whom only have e-mail access, you might find accessing
the archives here on the Esosoft server to be of your liking. The
Majordomo commands of "index" and "get" are the commands you would use.

Subscribers can get a list of filenames and dates in the archive by
sending an "index" command.  Example:

TO: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
SUBJECT: {Leave Blank}
BODY: index seeknfind

The CONTENTS file contains all the archive files and the subjects
within that make up their table of contents. The TOPICS file contains
all the subject lines and which archive they may be found.

You can get a listing of the CONTENTS and TOPICS files using the "get"
command:

TO: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
SUBJECT: {Leave Blank}
BODY:
get seeknfind CONTENTS
get seeknfind TOPICS

If you then want one of the archive files that contain the topic you
seek, you can use the "get" command:

TO: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
SUBJECT: {Leave Blank}
BODY:
get seeknfind seeknfind.991027

Note the file indicates the date of the archiving by the server, which
in the above example is October 27th, 1999.

Okay, that's not a perfect system of finding some back post, but at
least it all works via e-mail just fine. However, we do have a second
method to check and search our list archives that many of you may find
a little more friendly.

(2) The Mail-Archive

The Mail-Archive is a free archival service separate and apart of our
Esosoft list management service, where our list posts are stored on a
web server and we can read and search through the archives using a web
browser.

Use of this site is fairly intuitive, so I will just give you the URL
for our SeeknFind list and you can visit at your leisure:

Okay, dats's all folks. :-)
