I have been on this list for only a week or so, but
have been impressed with the positive atmosphere
and the willingness to help others locate various
items. So I thought I would make my needs known
and see what suggestions others have.

I am currently writing a book on money management
for a lower income audience, about how to use
resources wisely, stretch each dollar, avoid waste, etc.
I want to include a section on helpful resources such as
other books on specific topics, companies, organizations,
and software. What I'm looking for it a simple home
budgeting program, preferably Windows 95/98, and
preferably freeware. I've been to a bunch of freeware sites
and come up with related programs such as calculators
for credit card debt or for savings, but I want software
that allows a family to set up and maintain a budget. It
need not have bells and whistles or deal with investing.
I use Quicken. But since the idea is to spend as little as
possible, a freeware or real cheap shareware program would
be perfect. I might even be able to include it with the book.
If anyone knows of such a program, let me know. Thanks.
