Depending on how much cloaking you need, you may not need an anonymizer.
You can get reasonably decent anonymity just from Netscape news reader, for
instance, if you change the entries in the options/mail and news/identity
menu to a nom de plume and false return address. To the best of my
knowledge, if you do this the only info that can be extracted from the email
headers is the name/address of your server (I.e., you return address on the
newsgroup may show up as [EMAIL PROTECTED], but somebody who probes deeper
and looks at the full header will see that the originating computer is a
server at oracle.com, for instance). This works well if your sever is AOL or
MCI or something, but may be too close for comfort if you are posting from
your work address.
Or you can post from one of the webpage newsreaders: deja.com, remarq.com,
talkways.com (? are they still in business?) if you provide them with an
email address, which can be at hotmail or somewhere, and doesn't identify
your real name. (This is a common technique to avoid getting spam at your
real email address). This won't provide you with legal protection, since a
court order or something will certainly follow the chain back to you, but it
won't identify the originating server, so is a little more anonymous than
the previous.
