Hello all

I am one of those silent members of SaF . I have learned so much from you all.
Being still somewhat a online freshman I still have much to learn and this list
has been a great resource. I feel for you Alan . I too know of people who have
been greatly dissatisfied with topica. It's you get what you pay for. So I hope
all works out as I have enjoyed learning from your list.

Hello Seekers and Finders.

I am still seething from the recent events of the rape of our SeeknFind
mailing list by the vile Topica.com. It is now confirmed that Esosoft
has indeed prostituted itself with Topica.com and Topica.com is in
control of all list functions. I am not even sure this post will make
it through. Esosoft support and service addresses are not responding
to my e-mail.

I just attempted to close SeeknFind to new subscribers until the list
is relocated, but Topica has blocked all Majordomo commands, despite an
earlier message that promised 30 days. Among their other sins, they
are liars as well.

I did, however, succeed this morning in closing the SeeknFind mailing
list at the Topica.com site.

I have enough experience in managing mailing lists to know that the
free web hosting services such as Topica.com, ONElist and Egroups, do
not nor would ever have my subscribers' best interests at heart. None
of them demonstrate that they understand that a subscriber list
sanctity must not be tread upon or exploited for commercial purposes.
Unfortunately, that is precisely what they do.

I wish to sincerely apologize to all my subscribers. When I moved
SeeknFind to pay services at Esosoft.com, I did so in good faith that
my subscribers' privacy and security would be insured to the greatest
extent possible. In all the years on the Internet, I've never
witnessed such an unconscionable act as has been perpetrated upon
unsuspecting listowners by the conspiracy of Topica.com and
Esosoft.

Now for the Good News...

This morning I was successful in securing a new hosting service for our
list. It will be Majordomo services. I am hopeful the list will be
set up on the new server sometime this weekend. Until that time, I am
going to withhold the name of our new service, but assure you I will
announce the move to all subscribers at the appropriate time.

In the meantime, for all administrative matters, such as unsubscribing,
write me privately offlist and when SeeknFind is moved, I will manually
handle your request.

The recent turn of events does not affect the web hosting services
serving the domain of ashlists.org and our seeknfind web site. For
those services, I have an entirely different host.

Thanking you all in advance for you patience and understanding,

Alan S. Harrell
