Dear Colleague,

We wish to report that the Second Quadrennial Symposium on Three-
Dimensional Electromagnetics (3DEM-II), Oct. 27-29 last, was an
outstanding success with about 150 attendees and over 80
presentations filling three days. For many it represented a
reunion of sorts.

Proceeds from this event support the Gerald W. Hohmann Memorial
Trust for teaching and research in electrical geophysics. This
includes two student scholarships with matching funds from the
Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) plus an annual career
achievement award. This year's award was presented at the
symposium to Doug Oldenburg and Yaoguo Li for fundamental progress
in 2-D inversion for DC resistivity and induced polarization.

Printed proceedings from the symposium are available for purchase
for $125 U.S. These contain 342 pages with 82 concise papers
describing the state-of-the-art and many new techniques for
interpreting 3-D electrical geophysical data.

Our many thanks to all who made this exciting event possible.
