To all Canadians out there... On Wednesday, October 4, 2000, Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien announced that Mount Logan will be renamed Mount Pierre Elliott Trudeau. While I do not intend any disrespect to Canada's late Prime Minister or his family, the prospect of renaming Canada's highest mountain is a disgrace for Canadian traditions and heritage, and for the honour of one of Canada's greatest surveyors, explorers, and geologists. The tribute to Trudeau should not dishonour other nation builders. You can help stop this by going to www.savemtlogan.com and registering your name in opposition to this change. For those of you who don't know, Sir William Edmond Logan founded the Geological Survey of Canada in 1842 and served as its first director for 27 years. You can learn more about him at: http://www.halloffame.mining.ca/english/bios/logan.html If you think that Mount Logan should always be Mount Logan, please forward this letter to everyone on your mailing list.
