Dear Colleagues:
The last Northern Miner (Nov 5), was something of the benchmark for
geophysics. Not only were there three adverts for geophysical positions but
we as well managed to be the focus of their editorial page cartoon! I'm not
sure who the 'geophysicist' in the 'toon is modeled after (looks a bit like
the character 'Beaker', sans lab coat, from Sesame Street) but the material
he is looking at is quite familiar!
While the caricature may seem a tad disparaging, some attention is often
much preferred to being ignored!
I'd say the adverts for positions as well mitigates any minor discomfort. I
have pr�cised these below but can provide the full advert to anyone
interested.
