Dear Colleagues: The major mining groups in the world formed a project called the "Mining, Minerals and Sustainable Development"; this project has resulted in the production of a report that is available on the web for any interested party to examine and comment on over the next month. I encourage you to have a look at this document, as it seems to be a major step on the part of the industry to finally acknowledge the need for co-operative discussion with the world community about the form mining takes in the future and how society deals with the legacy issues associated with mining.
