Dear Colleagues:

The M&GC is pleased to announce that Dr. Mary Poulton will be the
committee's incoming vice-chair effective the next meeting of committee on
October 9th in Salt Lake City (during the week of the SEG meeting). A short
bio for Mary is provided:

Mary received a PhD (1990) in geological engineering from the University of
Arizona where she is currently head of the department of mining and
geological engineering. She has published numerous journal articles and
conference papers on the application of computational neural networks to
problems in earth sciences, including geophysics, mining, mineral and
petroleum exploration, hydrogeology, and atmospheric science. She is author
on a book on the use of neural networks for geophysical data analysis. Her
current area of research is methane hydrate reservoir characterization.
