All,
I have a colleague working on a Federally funded (Canada) initiative to advance mineral exploration education in Ethiopia. They are, as most government funded organizations, underfunded to acquire instruments that can be used to teach practical applications and skills. Please see his note below and if you have any ideas you can email me directly to avoid cluttering inboxes. Would you mind sending out a call for working magnetometers to your geophysical brethren. Basically I’m looking for 4 sets (rover and base) that are in working condition, and that can be used to train students on data collection and interpretation. We don’t have a whole lot of funds, but we can probably provide a tax receipt for an in kind donation through a third party charity I talked to about this kind of thing. These can be old and outdated working units, currently lying around a warehouse collecting dust and taking up valuable real estate, that won’t be missed if shipped abroad.
