Early tests on the Lockheed Martin AGG were done in a Winnebago. Dan
DiFrancesco might be able to amplify.

Too bad you didn’t see the data. It is really hard to get good gravity data
from a land vehicle: GPS signal interrupted by underpasses, stiff shocks on
the vehicle, long uphills and downhills. It would be interesting see gradient
data acquired from a land vehicle. Does anyone have any to share?

I met someone from this group at a SAGEEP some years ago. They had a Lockheed
Martin gravity gradiometer (the FTG?) in a van that they drove around at
something like 5km/hr collecting data. They weren't saying what they wanted
from such detailed data.

I don't recall the name, or whether they gave a paper at SAGEEP, but I don't
think so.

Dear Colleagues-

I received this email yesterday and as I was not aware of this program, I felt
it might be of interest to others on the list server.

I have not other information other than what is shown below.

Hello,

My name is Rose Ganley, I work for the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency
(NGA), formerly the National Imagery & Mapping Agency (NIMA) and part of the
United States Government. My department, Geomatics, runs an informal data
exchange with a number of universities, energy companies, and independent
scientists around the world. We are interested in collecting gravity surveys,
both over land and water, in support of products such as the World Geodetic
System (WGS 84), Earth Gravity Model (EGM08), and other DoD requirements that
many different groups within the international scientific community use on a
daily basis. In exchange we provide our gravity model free-of-charge as well as
a wide array of geospatial data upon request.

In the past some geophysical firms in the US have given us what they called
“patriotic contributions” in support of our main customer, the US military. If
your company felt so inclined, please know that we would keep your
contributions out of the hands of any third parties and internal to NGA only.
If you’re wondering what parts of the world we are most interested in, anything
that is in the news as well as mountainous areas are generally high-priority
areas for us, as well as developing areas such as many African countries.

We also do have a gravity meter loan program, which I can send you more
information about if you are interested. Finally, we can sometimes trade data
in exchanges that are mutually beneficial – this includes RBS stations around
the US and globally.

I appreciate your consideration and look forward to hearing from you.

Rose Ganley
