Subject: Gravity and Magnetics Luncheon at SEG San Antonio
Hi
We will try a big experiment this year concerning the Gravity and
Magnetics luncheon in San Antonio. We will hold the luncheon offsite
from the conference center. Google maps says it is a 9 minute walk
from the conference center to the chosen restaurant.
We have a venue: Casa Rio restaurant, 430 E Commerce St.
We have a date and time: Tuesday September 17, 12:00 to 1:30
We have a price: US$45.
We have a speaker, (thanks to Dale Bird's persistence): Dr. Caroline
Morley, Assistant Professor, Department of Astronomy, University of
Texas at Austin
And we have a title for the presentation: The Exotic Atmospheres of
Faraway Worlds
We will be using PayPal to purchase tickets.

your ticket.
It will say Sander Geophysics on your receipt, but it will also say
that you are paying for the gravity and magnetics luncheon. If
anyone needs any further documentation to claim their expense, I can
send you a more official looking receipt as gravity and magnetics
committee chair.
The pricing is $20 less than it would cost if we had held it onsite.
We will break even at around 35 participants. If we make a profit,
we can decide to donate the excess or save it for next year or .....
I will need to know how many people to expect about a week before
the event, so that I can give some numbers to the restaurant.
However if you really can't make up your mind that early, we will
not have an absolute cutoff. We will just hope that the Rio Casa can
accommodate a few extras. Of course, it would be much better for the
organizer (me) if you sign up good and early.
You cannot sign up for this luncheon through the SEG site. If you
already did, they will refund your money.
We need to publicize this information as widely as possibly. Not
everyone is on the Gravmag list server (although they should be!).
Please use your imagination and circulate this information to as
many people as you can. I will forward it to the KEGS (Canadian
Exploration Geophysical Society) bulletin and the SEGMIN list server
(SEG mining committee).
