Dear Colleagues, The Gerald W. Hohmann Memorial Trust for Teaching and Research in Electromagnetic Methods is pleased to announce the 2019 winners of its Career Achievement Award. This year the award is intended to recognize junior scientists (within 7 years of terminal university degree) of outstanding accomplishment and promise. Based on total qualifications and recommendations, the award is presented to two researchers. The first winner we announce is Dr. Jana H. Borner of the Institute of Geophysics and Geoinformatics, TU Bergakademie, Freiberg, Germany. Dr. Borner's research has covered the complex conductivity responses of CO2 sequestration processes and of black (carbon-bearing) shales. Dr. Borner's award was presented at the Schmucker-Weidelt-Kolloquium held at Haltern am See, Germany, on the 26th of September, 2019. The second winner is Dr. Lindsey J. Heagy, currently at the Department of Statistics, University of California, Berkeley, California, USA. Dr. Heagy is recognized for advances in computer simulation and inversion of electromagnetic data, and promotion of an open source culture for collaborative, inclusive and reproducible research. Dr. Heagy's award is to be presented at the Geomagnetism-Paleomagnetism-Electromagnetism Social/Business meeting at the annual American Geophysical Union meeting in San Francisco, on the 10th of December, 2019. Each winner receives a sterling silver engraved bowl and a check for $2,500 USD. The G W Hohmann Trust offers to Drs. Borner and Heagy its sincere congratulations and best wishes going forward.
