Sounds like an old group of builders in England were perhaps as advanced at building structures as their contemporaries in Egypt, if they built on a smaller scale. Perhaps the whole complex was as large as some pyramid undertakings?
These heritage sites have cultural value, had the chance to visit the old Ngwenya iron workings in Swaziland when based there for a few years in the '80s. These are 43000 year old workings, it's now a UNESCO heritage site it's believed, at the behest of the Swazi Government if I'm not mistaken. It was worked continuously for at least 20,000 years starting 43000 years ago, was the archeo's best guess based on carbon dating. Then intermittently after until a few decades ago, a large open pit started in the 1960s mined around the preserved site. Believe a recent study last year pegged the Okavango Delta region as the longest settled by present day man going back 200,000 years, the Swazi miners 43000 years ago would likely have had ancestors or relatives in Kavango that migrated to Swaziland. Some vector magnetometery was likely undertaken on the Salisbury plain recently to map some of the pits?
