Please join us for a webinar coinciding with the release of the 2019 Australian National Gravity Grids by Geoscience Australia.
Learn about the latest set of gravity grids covering the continent of Australia and surrounding oceans. With more than 1.4 million ground gravity observations, the average station spacing is approaching 2 km, allowing the grids to have a cell size of 400 m. For the first time, the grids will also include more than 450,000 line km of airborne gravity and airborne gravity gradiometer data, not to mention more than 16 million square km of marine gravity data derived from satellite altimetry. And the marine data were not left as Free Air Anomaly data - they were fully processed along with the ground and airborne data. Two sets of 3 gravity grids will be released: (a) Free Air Anomaly (FAA) (b) Complete Bouguer Anomaly (CBA) (c) De-trended Global Isostatic Residual (DGIR) The “A Series” is based on ground and marine gravity data. The “B Series” also includes the airborne data. This allows everyone to form their own opinion on the value that the airborne data bring to the grids.
