It is not exhaustive but these are the mags we see data from

The GEM 19 isn't on there because its output can be read as a Geosoft XYZ file.

The MP3 tends to be historical but we had to load several hundred kilometres of its data last month - which took twice as long as it should because of flakey RS232 dumps. People often dumped faster than their disk buffer could handle and the handshaking on the old IGS2 interface was effectively non existent so the historical files from MP3s, IPR11-12s and the VLF unit using that interface are typically corrupted. Things have improved with the Envimag, I'm not sure if the RS232 has better handshaking but doubt it as we now see fairly clean IPR12 dumps. I suspect that what has changed is that computer I/O is now faster and so the buffer can handle the dump as long as you don't go faster than 9600 baud or don't have a full day's data to dump.

Cheers
Kim

Thank you, Dennis.

In the last 20+ years I have been involved on and off in in-house magnetic acquisition, be this at BHP (Tintaya), Terrane Metals (Mt Milligan), Ivanhoe Mines (Kamoa) or, most recently, at Goldcorp (Cerro Negro, Penasquito), but the instrumentation has always been GEM or Geometrics.

    eTesters (https://www.etesters.com/see/7575/magnetometers/
    <https://www.etesters.com/see/7575/magnetometers/>) has an
extremely long list of magnetometer manufacturers around the world.

Happy new year and good riddance to the old one, Dennis

    Geometrics.

            Dear all,

I hope you are all having a safe holiday season.

Does someone have a list of all magnetometers used in our
industry? My experience is unfortunately limited to GEM
and Geometrics. However, I am aware of developments,
            e.g.  by Jena, etc.
