This is a heads up to SEISA teams. Risk management and ream conduct is very
serious business and when faced with the liability and PR issues
Universities see club sports as expendable. When I was at Texas, UT
suspended its entire soccer program (men's and women's) for a year because
of misconduct. Its officers were banned from all club sports. Last week a UT
football player was thrown off the team and lost his scholarship for
something he put up on Facebook.

SEISA teams need to have risk management policies above and beyond what your
university requires. You should also have personal responsibility agreements
with each member, so even if one person does something stupid it doesn't
jeopardise the entire program. If your team doesn't have these policies or
you want to review yours please contact me immediately.

* The University of Vermont suspended the sailing team's status as a club
following a potential hazing incident within the team. The incident is
currently under investigation after the University became aware after a
student was detoxed, Pat Brown, the director of student life, said.
Suspension arose after Oct. 21, when UVM learned of "some behaviors that
were a concern for the University that involved alcohol and a new member,"
