Results
Saturday morning began with sunny skies and in the mid 50s. The breeze was
light and variable, forecasted to come from the north/northwest. To increase
racing, we split the 10 teams into two seperate fleets, Orange and White. The
plan was to go into a championship and consolation round after the initial
rotation was completed. We got the first set of boats out to the line only to
attempt a race, only to be postponed until 1 pm. At 1 pm the wind increased to
a light and variable 3-5 knots. Saturday we were able to get off 7 races, 4 in
Orange and 3 in White. We ended the day at about 3 pm as the breeze shut off.
There were 2 protests on Saturday, the first was OU v. Alum with OU taking the
protest and the other was TAMU 1 v. OU with TAMU 1 winning. Sunday racing
started promptly at 10 am with brand new breeze at about 12-15 knots. The
Orange fleet was able to finish their rotation early as Rice, TAMUG 3, and
Alums had to withdraw due to various reasons. The White fleet was able to
finish their rotation with 3 protests that were taken to the table. TAMUG 1
protested D for Diploma and won, while a protest from Texas v. TAMUG 2 was
ruled no foul, and a protest from TAMUG 2 v. Texas was thrown out. We were
able to complete 16 races due to the light and then very windy conditions.
Overall, it was a a great regatta that also drew out some alums from a few
teams. We would like to thank them for coming out and participating and really
making this a competitive 3x3 team racing regatta.
We would like to thank Austin Yacht Club for hosting us as well as our PRO
Steve Gay and the Race Committee of Ed Taylor and Justin Ogden.

5. Rice (Orange) & Texas (White) 0-4
