Garner Tullis Regatta Report

Racing started around 10 AM on Saturday February 4th with eight boats on
the line. The sky was slightly overcast with variable winds at 5 – 10 knots
coming off the land and the lake was relatively flat. The course was a
windward-leeward once around with four races per each A and B rotation with
switches occurring on the water. Eight races were completed in each
division and racing stopped at around 3:30 PM as storm clouds began to roll
in. Fun fact: The Garner Tullis Regatta is held in memory of Garner H.
Tullis, a former New Orleans businessman and civic leader who served as a
lieutenant in the US Coast Guard and also as commodore of Southern Yacht
Club. In 1935 he ruled over the city as Rex, King of the Carnival.
 Congratulations UT for the win!
