Like Bob, I am still also waiting for approval from TechScore. I will have
this all entered in as soon as I am approved. Until then, this will have to do
for now.

OU April Fool’s Regatta
University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma City Boat Club
Oklahoma City, OK
April 1, 2012

Sunday morning sailors arrived to breezy conditions around 17 mph. The race
committee decided conditions were safe to race and we started the first race at
10:15 am. Though the conditions were extremely challenging, all 6 teams
started the first race in 420’s. During the first race one boat capsized and
another boat had a breakdown (hull and deck separated on starboard side near
shroud plate, allowing the starboard tank to completely fill with water) that
also prevented them from sailing the second race since there was not a
substitute boat.

By 11 am, the wind had built to 25 mph with gusts to 35 mph. All 5 remaining
boats started the second race and finished. After the first set, racing was
postponed by the race committee for one hour to assess the high wind
conditions. The wind remained at a constant 25-35 mph, and the race committee
decided the conditions were unsafe for the sailors and equipment. Racing was
cancelled for the rest of the day. Unfortunately due to the high wind
conditions, we were unable to complete enough races to constitute a regatta.

We would like to thank all the teams who took the time to travel to our
regatta, the race committee, safety and mark boats, and everyone else who
helped out.
