you can measure a noise amplitudes in displacement, velocity, acceleration, acceleration power od dB acceleration power. it is all the same thing, just different units.

Hi Jens Havskov and Seisan community!
Jens,
My question is about the equation "3.17" of your book "Routine Data
Processing in Earthquake Seismology".

This equation mentions that the ground displacement "d" is a fuction of
noise power density N(dB) and frequency. But, in the moment earthquake? or
always exists a ground displacement for noise?.

I want to apply this equation for the analysis of the seismic noise in some
stations in Panama.

Thanks.

Saludos!.
