I have now been on two projects that made heavy use of
Selenium to test javascript intensive applications. We were
able to work around most deficiencies by writing our own
extensions (fortunately not too hard to do). About the only
real show stopper is if you have any alerts or confirmations
that pop up on page load. As selenium runs in the browser, it
does not have a chance to replace the alert/confirm behaviour
before the page loads, and so no one has yet come up with a
solution to that. We only had a couple of scenarios where
this was a problem, and had to leave those to be manually
tested :-(
