If you are targeting multiple different browser platforms (IE, FF, Safari,
opera) then Selenium is one of the only testing tools I know of.
You can evaluate jsUnit (http://www.edwardh.com/jsunit/), if you are into
ruby, WATIR ( http://wtr.rubyforge.org/ ) (only for IE) can work, and there
is Fitness ( http://fit.c2.com/ ) but it seems only selenium can do what
selenium does.
