Hi all,
I wanted to wish everyone a happy new year. 2008 was a big year for both the
Semantic MediaWiki project as a whole and the Semantic Forms extension. To
think about how far we've come: at the beginning of 2008, SF was only eight
months old and still missing some major functionality (translation through
Betawiki, multiple-value autocompletion); SMW version 1.0 had just been
released (the one that turned "relations" and "attributes" into
"properties"); and the only other semantic extensions that existed were the
very-new Semantic Drilldown and Halo. By the end of the year, more than five
other major extensions have been released (more if you count ancillary
extensions like Widgets and Header Tabs); SMW and SF are both much more
mature and stable; two separate sites now offer SMW hosting; a number of
consulting companies provide SMW-based solutions to corporations and
governments; and the SMW system is in use on hundreds of wikis around the
world. Thanks to everyone who's used SMW and SF, and has contributed code,
bug reports, or comments, created a wiki, or otherwise spread the word about
the technology; and here's looking forward to an equally successful 2009.

-Yaron
