Well, this is rather more of a parser/templating issue than it is an SMW issue.
Also, I forgot to mention that I use

{{#arraymap: {{#dates: | StartDate={{{from}}} | EndDate={{{till}}} }}|,|x|[[Has 
date::x| ]]|  }}

to add the dates generated by DateDiff as SMW properties.
