Hi,

Thanks for your answers.

Regarding the map extension: I will definitely have a look at other
extensions (Maps, Semantic Maps, Tetherless Map [1]), first. It is great to
have already some KML functionality in Maps to build on. I will need a
deeper look at it, before I know what it already provides and what still
needs to be implemented.

Regarding my SMW development work: On the one hand, at AIFB/KIT this is very
much project requirements driven. On the other hand, as a researcher I will
always try to further explore exciting or innovative ideas by using or
further developing SMW and its extensions. In that sense, what development
work I do for SMW depends mainly on current and future projects and also on
research interests at AIFB.

Regarding Selenium system testing: Ryan, it would be really great to meet up
in Gdansk. I will write a separate E-Mail to you to settle date and time.

Cheers

Benedikt

Hey,

I'd like to add some exclamation marks to that. GIS functionality should
definitely be added to Maps and Semantic Maps - don't go off writing a new
extension! There are multiple reasons not to do that, which I'll happily sum
up if needed.

Cheers

Maps/Semantic Maps added this feature really recently (version 0.6.4
a4):

es_364

Support for shape files would be really nice as well though.

Yes, support for shapefiles and other GIS data, plus greater support for
KML, would be quite nice, although in my opinion that should all be done via
the Maps and Semantic Maps extensions.

On that note, could you explain how your priorities for Semantic MediaWiki
development work get decided, now and in the future? Is it entirely up to
you what you work on?
