Hi David.I battled with this for a day a little while back and simply couldn't get it to work. I believe it is down to a skin or prototype js clash.
You could try the "official" Mediawiki editor - WikiEditor. I have it working fine after following the 1.17 install instructions here https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:WikiEditor
Works great in Semantic Forms as well :) Cheers Neill
