Current Version:
MediaWiki 1.15.3
MySQL 5.5.23
Semantic MediaWiki 1.5.6
Semantic Forms 2.3.2
Semantic Maps 0.7.7
Version once we upgrade:
MediaWiki 1.20.2
MySQL 5.5.23
Semantic MediaWiki 1.8
Semantic Forms 2.5.1
Semantic Maps 2.0.1.2
PHP version varies depending on the server. It will be 5.4.11 fcgi once
upgrading.
With the older versions, we are having problems with the semantic properties
getting updated properly.
The biggest problem that we have found is that Semantic Maps version 0.7.7 does
not seem to be compatible with PHP version 5.4.11 (fcgi). It seems like any
page with coordinates do not get returned in inline queries. Computers with
lower versions of php seem to be fine.
My main questions are about caching and semantic data integrity. I am assuming
if we upgrade to the newest version, these will be handled better. We would
like data to show up immediately in queries. I have been reading online about
caching problems here is some of the things that I discovered. I just wanted
to confirm these:
1.It will be smoother when we upgrade. Is this generally true? I am using
this as an argument for the upgrade.
2.We recently added $wgEnableParserCache = false; $wgCachePages = false;
these configurations to localSettings. Are they good to add?
3.We noticed that jobs get built up in the wiki. A common one that we notice
in the jobs is refreshLinks on several pages. Is this part of Semantic Media
Wiki? Is there a way to avoid these?
4.We have run SMW_refreshData.php -vf and then a second time
SMW_refreshData.php -v, how often should these be run and are the as necessary
with the new version?
5.One last question, when we upgrade if we keep the old semantic store at least
for a few weeks will that cause problems with semantic media wiki or other
semantic extensions? We use SementicForms, SemanticInternalObjects,
SemanticMaps, SemantiResultsFormat, and SemanticCompoundQueries.
Sorry for all the questions but I am really trying to push our company to
upgrade. These questions will help my case.
Thanks,
Mary
