Dear Mediawikites: We're developing a Balinese-English-Indonesian multimedia wiki dictionary/encyclopedia and need to be able to embed videos from Instagram and Facebook directly into Wiki. Right now, we copy the videos (with permission), upload them to Youtube, and then embed them into the wiki. This takes a lot of time but more importantly, undermines the nature of a wiki since our editors, rather than the public, end up inserting the materials because its too many steps for the average user and requires a better Internet connection than most of our users have in Bali. We also need the mediawiki software updated. Can you help? We're not competent with mediawiki software (although we've tried!) so we need someone to actually make the changes in the wiki. We told that the wiki is making a huge difference in Bali, there are now over 1/4 million users and over 1500 words have videos sent in by the community. Being able to use Instagram and Facebook videos directly will help to substantially increase this impact. Help keep this ancient language thriving. We're hoping that the wiki will also serve as a model for similarly situated languages. Alissa --
