That's possible, here is an example: The template
http://ontoworld.org/wiki/Template:Between is used on the page of Spain http://ontoworld.org/wiki/Spain The thing is, that you can take arguments either by name, i.e. {{{country}}}, or by position, i.e. {{{1}}}, within a template.
