Just wanted to let you know briefly about our Semantic MediaWiki project -- the Wikibase (at http://busytonight.com/wiki), a collaborative online city guide covering places and event venues. This week, we're polishing the logic and layout for the New York City pages (http://busytonight.com/wiki/New_York_City).
We have a core team of five people actively working on the project at the moment, and are eager to get feedback, participation, and outside involvement. The Wikibase is sponsored by my company (Team Gigabyte, the developers of the algorithmic event crawler at http://BusyTonight.com), but it's an open project. We're using SMW as the foundation of our geographic hierarchy, and also throughout the system for other kinds of semantic relationships and page tagging. I've been very pleased with it. We have a variety of extensions and enhancements underway which will eventually be released back to the community, and we'll probably package up the geographic functions too (once we've optimized them for speed) so that others can use them. Please feel free to get in touch with us if you have comments, or just jump in and participate! Note that the entire site is under active development this week, so you may experience the occasional blip.
