You might be missing a call to "enableSemantics". The file
LocalSettings.php, in the main MediaWiki directory, should contain the
following lines:

include_once('extensions/SemanticMediaWiki/includes/SMW_Settings.php');
enableSemantics('your-domain-name-here.com');
