Indeed.  I wonder if anyone has imported (see 
http://ontoworld.org/wiki/Help:Import_vocabulary ) Dublin Core or other 
bibliographic ontologies, or written import scripts for publication data.

Does the [[has author::]] relation appear in the factbox of the page of 
a publication using the template?  If not, your template has problems.

They should be.  E.g. on ontoworld.org, Template:Person has an 
[[affiliation::]] relation, and when you go to Relation:Affiliation, it 
shows the affiliations established by the person template.

If the relationship appears on the publication page's factbox and not on 
the Relation::Has_author page, then check for namespace problems.

And it could be a Mediawiki caching issue as others run into.  Try 
?action=purge on the Relation::Has_author page.
