Is there a way to configure the dtmf detector to listen only on one of
the two channels of a call? I have a situation in which a recording
being played on one channel is triggering the detector. (Who'd have
thought that Groucho Marx singing "I'm against it" would sound like a
dtmf tone?)

really, there is dtmf detection only on the incoming channel. that is a
problem with in-band dtmf... Have you tried the spandsp dtmf detector?
it is more robust than the internal one.
