We've tried compiling SEMS 1.2.0 on Solaris with little success.
We have Solaris 10 on SPARC architecture. Do you know whether SEMS 1.2.0
has been tested on this architecute?
If SEMS 1.2.0 can be compiled on Solaris 10/SPARK, could you please tell
me which exact version of gcc, g++ and make was used?
And also whether any other specific libraries or system
settings/variables we required?
I would mention that it doesn't compile with gcc 4.3.x and 4.4.x (I
don't know whether 4.5 is out yet) because of a compile error that
started to come out with gcc 4.3.x (strcasecmp function is not defined
in a scope), but didn't happen with gcc 4.2.x .
If you try to compile the gcc compilers, the latest gcc 4.2.4 is said
not to be compilable or to work on Solaris (because of a bug solved in
OpenSolaris only) and at the moment I get a generic failure compiling
4.2.3 ("Fatal error: Command failed for target `all'").
Also, if you try to compile gcc from source, you must use the tar
utility from gnu.org, as the system tar util doesn't untar the source
files properly.
...and... no, SEMS-1.1.1 doesn't compile either. It has the same error
that SEMS-1.1.0 has and has been fixed in SEMS-1.2.0 (but there might be
others).

while I have not tried myself, I think that SEMS 1.1.1 compiles and
runs fine on Solaris.
I think though, that for a new deployment I would consider using
1.2.0, as there has been quite some improvements, and with very minor
modifications, configuration is the same for both versions.
