Hello,

Did you take a look at red5phone? It is open source and working great
(registration/calls/..) in combination with red5 or openfire, although
there is no video/h.264 support.
we had a look at red5phone, and - at least at that time - it was complicated to setup, looked bloated with all the server stuff, and generally the performance of the java based server was a bit unimpressive. raphael can probably comment more on the specifics, but that were the main reasons we decided to build a server with sems. also, back then fs's rtmp gateway was not released as well, so there was no viable rtmp to sip gateway for our purposes.

Would be nice if the rtmp plugin for sems would be compatible with the
flashphone of red5phone, sems could become a nice alternative to
red5/openfire servers. (which are a bit oversized regarding memory &
load)
i don't know if the guiless stuff is merged yet (is it?), I'd actually prefer to have the gui in javascript than in flash.

what's the advantage of the re5phone client app?

thanks!
Stefan

Hello!

Please check www.flashphoner.com
This is RTMP-SIP server which can help you here

Functions:
- Audio - Speex, g.711, g.729
- Video - h.263, h.264
- SIP - calls, transfer, hold, DTMF
- API - ActionScript, JavaScript
- Open source client
- Open source server java app

you are using java for the server for both signaling and media
(+rtmp streaming), how is the performance, i.e. parallel calls?

You say open source but looks like the meat of the server is in
com.flashphoner.sdk.* and com.wowza.wms.server.*, where's the source
for that?

SEMS RTMP server is C++ and 100% GPL and under that license 100%
free to use. For me non-open-source+java=not very interesting...

thanks
Stefan

Thanks,
Pavel
