to my knowledge, rtpengine doesn't support transcoding ("yet", see
https://github.com/sipwise/rtpengine ) so you may have more luck using
SEMS for transcoding, if your use case is to use transcoding in order
to increase interop.
otoh, SRTP and rtcp-mux isn't supported by open source SEMS, so you'd
better use rtpengine for that use cases.
For other media server apps (prompts, conference etc), SEMS of course
is a good choice.
