Hi,

o Jason Penton [12/03/08 14:33]:
Hi All,

Would there be any merit adding a native g729 file format to SEMS so that media can be streamed from the server without having to license the g729 codec. I would be happy to work on the code but was interested in what the guys like Stefan, Raphael and the rest of the list think about such a feature?

i would like it, and its already implemented (AmPrecodedFile, precoded_announce) but there is a bug (http://tracker.iptel.org/browse/SEMS-47) that prevents it from working for unknown codecs. If you can fix that it would be great. IIRC you would have to add a CodecContainer with the right parameters to m_payloadPByPayload/m_codecContainerByPayload for setting the right frame size (see AmAudio.cpp), before the first RTP packet it sent.

If you have some more time you could then add multi stream capabilities, for video prompts... saving to precoded file would be another thing on the wishlist :)

Stefan

cheers
Jason
