As you might have noticed out of the following email, SEMS has now a new
DNS cache offering more reliability and support load balancing based on
DNS SRV ressource records (in git:master).
A new transaction timer has been introduced (timer M), which is
responsible for switching to a new host when no response has been
received. The default setting for timer M is 1/4 of the response timer
(B or E, depending on the transaction type: INVITE or non-INVITE). Each
time timer M hits, a new destination is tried. If there is no more
destination for a host name, timer M is not set. When timer B/E hits,
the transaction is timed out as usual.
After some tests with different SIP providers, it seems that most do not
use NAPTR records. This, together with the fact that SEMS only supports
UDP brought me to the conclusion that we do not need NAPTR records.
This simple version does not include negative caching, only positive
replies are cached. Also, in responses to SRV query, the A records in
the additional section are not processed. This means that the A record
corresponding to the target will be looked up anyway, possibly adding
another DNS query if it was not cached yet.

added onw functions for parsing DNS reply
as it seems, several functions declared in arpa/nameser.h are not present
in libresolv.so on Linux. those functions are considered to be internal to
libresolv.
